chomp, slurp

Caramel Corn from The Joy of Vegan Baking.

My first successful recipe from this book that I currently have out from the library.

I also made half a batch of the chocolate chip cookies, and perhaps it was my halving the recipe to blame, but they were FLAT. I haven't made cookies that sad in years. Nonetheless, Thomas enjoyed them, so I didn't find myself too frustrated.

Some quick french bread pizza for dinner.
Parbaked wheat baguette from Trader Joe's, fire roasted marianra, Italian sausage, Nomicon cashew ricotta (I wanted it globbed, not spread), spinach and red bell pepper. This was fun and easy to make.

Lunch at work - while reading Kittee's Papa Tofu Zine! I have been a big fan of
Kittee's Vegan Cookery site for years, and her Oven-fried Tofu is a personal favorite, not to mention her awesome cakes, cookies, Ethiopian and Indian recipes, etc...
I bought my sister a copy too!

Grilled Sundried Tomato Italian Sausage (ala Everyday Dish), red bell pepper, steamed spinach and fire roasted marinara..and a slice of baguette. Very reminiscent of the pizza, hmmm...

Ton of fruits and veggies I bought with a coupon at Uncle Paul's produce market in SE Portland. (pssst, the honey is not for me! really, I'm an agave fan anyhow)
This haul is about $35 worth.

Why so much juice? For eatings and drinkings!

We've been loving the juicer that Shaun from
In a Pickle and a Jam gave to us when she moved.

The juice below is lemon-apple-cucumber-melon, but my favorite combination has been ginger-garlic-beet-apple-carrot.

Caramel corn! I haven't had that in ages. Looks great.

I've never had a juicer, but I really want to get one, I'm so sick of the bad stuff from the supermarket. The good stuff always costs too much anyway.

Good looking juice!

My work lunches don't ever look that good! I need to add a juicer to my wish list now!

That popcorn picture is beautiful. Funny, I had forgotten about French bread pizza. I used to eat that all the time in high school.

Suddenly, I am so hungry!

Actually, what caught my eye was the Caramel Corn. I'm not fond, but my husband was just saying yesterday how much he LOVES the stuff and how it has been SO LONG since he has had any and did I have a nice RECIPE for it?

The man is not subtle sometimes.

Cheers!

i am so relieved to hear your choc. chip cookies from the joy of vegan baking came out flat - mine did too! i thought it was because of some high altitude issue - we are from salem oregon but recently moved to colorado springs. i want to try them again somtime though, the flavor was good.

I made the caramel popcorn from 'The Joy of Vegan Baking' and it was incredible. It went over real well with everyone.

The chocolate chip cookies are crazy. Sometimes they are thick and chunky, sometimes they are huge and flat, sometimes the are smell and puny. They keep changing every time I make them, really.

I am going to be getting a juicer, myself. Drinking fresh, organic juice is the best way to clean out the body of toxins.

Hey there,

I've been reading your blog for sometime and just wanted to let you know that I've added your blog as a link on my own page for others (and myself) to read: http://flamingointhekitchen.wordpress.com/

Great blog you have there.

mmm, the pizza and caramel corn look divine - sorry that the cookies were flat; but hey, as long as they were delicious, then that's what counts :0)

I love juicers!!

Cucumber works so great in fruit juice! I'm getting back into the juicing swing these days, it's been AGES since wheatgrass touched my lips (it adds quite a bit of sweetness to vegi juices, too. mmmm).

Have you tried the Choc-Chip Cookies from Vegan With A Vengeance? Cos they are super-yummy! We use them for vegan evangelism - people just can't believe that somethings that yummy is vegan :P

Hi Diana - Those VWAV are great! They're the staple recipe I use, too.

So many fabulous foods--one reason I love reading your blog. The pizza in particular looked great to me (haven't tried the cashew ricotta yet, but will) and I adore baked tofu, so your photos really made me salivate.

I used to juice almost every day but now that I'm working so many hours, I've let it slip--I hate cleaning the thing. Maybe it's time to pull it out again!
