you need to fix the address for the crepe place at 12/hawthorne, you put SW instead of SE...
i wish there were more food carts on the eastside, but since i live so close to the ones on hawthorne, i will not complain more than that.

I think I almost fell faint when I read this. OMG. Portland has officially taken over the #1 spot on my where I need to move right now list. Fingers crossed in the next year or two!

One more reason why Portland is my dream hometown. The only food cart in Memphis is the little fireman who sells not-vegan hot dogs outside City Hall at noon. That's it. Sigh...

Thanks for the roundup, Jess. Carts are one of my very favorite things about Portland living, and a big reason I choose to live downtown. If only Los Gorditos had a downtown location! Glad to see Just Thai on the list, they're the kindest cart owners around (and that's saying something). I guess you're anti onions and cilantro (if I remember correctly,) but their vegan Tom Kha is simply astounding.

That Grilled Cheese place only has one grill, slathered in butter from the other grilled cheeses. Can anyone confirm a cleaning of the grill before they make a vegan one?
I haven't seen exactly what goes on with their grill. They have a sign right next to the ordering window where they specify that they use Earth Balance (vegan) to cook the vegan sandwiches. I'll keep my eyes & ears open for any horror stories, but I would assume they clean their grill and don't slop the vegan sandwiches directly into butter, but I understand the worry. The Bye & Bye is all vegan and serves a grilled cheeze next door if you want to be 100% confident in a vegan grilled fake cheeze sandwich : )

Fat Kitty Falafel is all vegetarian but their pitas are not vegan. You have to bring your own pita to get a falafel sandwich, but you do get $1 off.
What about Palm State Gumbo? They're cute and have a number of vegan things like the tofu po'boy and BBQ tofu po'boy. Also vegan gumbo...and other things. On Alberta outside the Nest. Have you been?

You have no idea how lucky you are with how many vegan restraunts you have over there in Oregon! Hawaii has ZERO all vegan restraunts and only a handful of vegetarian places.
