Vegan Contests! & Thanksgiving Plans

Hi guys, I didn't want to rush a VeganMoFo post today, so I thought I'd share these two contests that Amy over at Vegcooking and GoVeg told me about....

from her email:

1. Win Vegan Twinkies!

The Brooklyn based bakery, Vegan Honey, has donated one $40 gift certificate to their Etsy.com online shop. There you can find all kinds of vegan baked goods, even a Fauxstess Line that includes vegan Twinkies! It’s too cute. All you have to do to win is leave a comment about your favorite vegan dessert on the VegCooking blog, and the best comment wins.

2. Win Veggie Turkey in Time for Thanksgiving

We are giving away four Garden Protein Veggie Turkey breasts, that are stuffed with wild rice and cranberries, to one lucky winner. It’s simply enter to win, and the winner will receive their “turkey” in time for Thanksgiving

___

Speaking of Thanksgiving, this will be my 5th Vegan Thanksgiving, and here's my tentative menu for 2:

  • VWAV biscuits and gravy
  • Roasted garlic mashed yukon gold potatoes
  • Steamed string beans
  • Stuffed mushrooms -or- tempeh meatloaf (Thomas wants the mushrooms, I want to try the meatloaf)
  • My mom's Sweet Potato pie casserole
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Mini apple pie
  • Mini pumpkin pie
If you're in the mood for some vegan thanksgiving food porn, check out my post from last year here, featuring the Tofurkey I will not opt for again.. What are your Thanksgiving plans? As you can see, I am adoring the idea of cutesy individual pies.

Oh, your T day sounds awesome - I love peaceful holidays! I'm going over to a friend's house for a vegan potluck. Yay!

Mmm, garlic mashed potatoes sound yum! And mini pies, too cute! I'm getting a tofurky and will make some as of yet undetermined sides. I can't help it, I really like the tofurky (but only 2-3 times a year).

oooh those contests sound great; as does your Thanksgiving menu!! yum!! Since we host over 20 family members/friends at our house each year for the holiday, my mom and I have LOTS of cooking to do - I'm going to be making a carob-pumpkin pie, pumpkin-pecan-raisin loaf, cranberry sauce, roasted vegetables, and probably a chickpea casserole or stuffing dish as well. I'm excited that VEGAN eats will dominate at my Thanksgiving celebration :0)

Megan, Not a stupid question! Although it's a sweet dish, I would consider the sweet potato pie casserole a side dish.

Thanks for the contest links. That 'turkey' breast thingy looks pretty good! Anything has to be better than the Tofurkey roast, right?

Sounds like a wonderful menu! Good to hear a review of tofurky. I've heard mixed things. Maybe I'll get one but not use it for the big day.... tempeh meatloaf sounds like a winner!
