What am I making?

I mentioned last week how I was saving money, working with what I had around the house for meals, etc....and with today being payday and the realization that my produce consists of half a head of romaine lettuce, it's time to go shopping. On top of that, I not only have Veganomicon, but my copy of Eat, Drink & Be Vegan arrived - !!!!!!! Which hummus to make first? Let me know of any recommendations~
Not too much, since I'm still budgeting for my upcoming East Coast trip (hotel, camera, winter coat, new luggage, spending money!), but I'd like to restock on tamari, chickpeas, dark greens, the cauliflower I've been craving and the following for a specific recipe Thomas and I agreed on last night, while watching Kitchen Nightmares (yet AGAIN being filmed on Long Island, my homeland):
  • shallot
  • garlic
  • cremini mushrooms
  • coriander (I'm not quite fond of this but it's for the recipe)
  • black pepper (running low)
  • frozen peas
  • corn
  • parsley
  • potatoes
  • nondairy milk (I buy whatever is cheapest and organic)
Can you guess what I'm making? It's from one of my new books, and well, everyone but Isa and Terry are allowed to guess....

Speaking of grocery items, guess whose favorite faux meat has a blog and mentioned Get Sconed! ? Field Roast! Yum.

Lunch yesterday: Leftover pizza with soy cheez and black olives and a side salad (ahem, that lettuce..) from It's a Beautiful Pizza in SE Portland, from a PPK dinner with fellow bloggers Joanna, Susie, Strawberryrock, VeganFabulous, Michelle & more friends.

Make the Curry Hummus!

I've already made a lot from EDBV and I've loved it all. If I had to choose just a few to recommend it would probably be- supercharge me cookies, monkey minestrone, Hempanola for sure, and mellow lentil sniffle soup.

That's so funny- we're watching kitchen nightmares right now! (Daiku is totally addicted to it). We both used to live on Long Island, and we're having scary flashbacks! Where do they find these crazies? hee hee.

What brand of soy cheese is that on the pizza? It looks so good and like it actually melts!

I guessing the tempeh shepardess pie....only since I made it the other week and remember those ingredients. Don't remember the coriander, but maybe it was there too. But if that's what it is, you are in for a treat (unless you already tested it and know what it's like)!!

I need to make the cholent! I'm thinking about making it with soy curls, since I haven't seen big tvp anywhere.

Tami - I don't think the potpie is my type of meal, BUT I should try the black olive biscuits, I can't get enough black olives lately.

Maybepigs - thanks for the tips! I've actually never made lentil soup so I may start there.

Megan - The kitchen in my office, with full windows, takes credit for the better shot, not me : )

Anonymous & Vegan Noodle win - Tempeh Shephardess Pie. While I'm Irish, I don't recall ever eating this, and I dig tempeh so I'll give it a shot.

Melisser - You know you should come visit!!

Ashasarala - I believe it' Follow Your Heart. It's funny you say that because while I was able to melt it a bit (quickly microwaving and then toasting it) the cheez wasn't melted when we got it the night before. Also, try sprinkling a little water or oil on the cheez and then broiling it to achieve melting. But fake cheezes are weird, and sometimes just.don't.melt
