Back in PDX

Hello! I've been quietly back from my trip to NYC for a few days now and I'm in back to reality mode.
I cried watching my sister graduate from college, walked for hours, saw my friends from college, convinced my brother to come in from Long Island! and eat his first knowingly vegan meal!! at Red Bamboo!!!, met up with PPKers, explored Brooklyn, Queens and had my long-missed vegan Chinese food and thin crust pizza.

Thank you to everyone who gave me recommendations! I certainly didn't have the time or money to try everything, but I did accomplish (and taste) a ton.

One of my favorite places from the trip has to be Penny Licks on oh-so-cool Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn - a 50s style candy and ice cream shop with tons and tons of vegan options, including Vegantreats desserts and Temptation ice cream.

My sister with most of the shop behind her.

Front cake case. And it's open till midnight!

Teriyaki chicken slice from Vinnie's down the block from Penny Lick's-
excellent crust, good sauce,
wish they had a normal cheeze by the slice!

Waiting for the subway.

Oh, and I bought the coolest sunglasses EVER. I had to fit in, you know (and make that funny face).

Plenty of more NYC photos on their way.

Oh how I wish were shops were open late in Portland. The other night I was craving a latte and every coffee shop closed at 8pm!!! I'm glad you are back and that you had a great trip!

Glad you had such a great time. NYC is the bestest.

Govinda's here in Philly also serves Vegan Treats desserts--and I drool at their dessert case all the time--and sample way too many kinds of cakes.

I must make a note of Penny Licks. There's nothing like a vegan dessert case to make me faint with envy! Can't wait for more pics.
