yo

Thank you to everyone for your positive words for my move! We're mostly unpacked and the new place just *feels* better than the former apartments I've had in Portland. Was it possible to get cuter than the Belmont neighborhood? Definitely so - and this place is quiet!!! I'm getting used to an electric stovetop and a spacious countertop. There is less cabinet room, but I'm more than making do. Photos will come.. I'm glad to be back - I was ready to post but the blogger beta stalled my blog for a couple days, I'm still finding it awkward to sign into.

This was the last creation of my old kitchen- Blueberry hazelnut coffee, modified from a coffeecake in La Dolce Vegan. I'll try to repost my modified recipe before I return the book to the library. I'm trying to accept LDV for the "quick/easy" recipes it prides itself on, but I flip the pages wanting something complicated not calling for "vegan cheese" with more than a few ingredients.
Why the blueberry addition? 5 lbs of fresh picked blueberries from Sauvie Island~ (aka the best part of unpacking/waiting for the POD weekend) Penne with chopped roma tomatoes, spinach, cremini mushrooms and garlic. The tomatoes and the garlic sat overnight and were juicy awesome. Behind it - glass of red wine, I forget what.

Last of the frozen Courage Burgers, on Dave's Killer Rye bread with lettuce, tomato, tempeh bacon!, Vegenaise and Frank's Red Hot. Yowza. A side of the best potatoes ever, csa share yukon gold roasted with coarse sea salt, freshly ground pepper, canola oil and fresh dill.

Chocolate Hazelnut Biscotti from The Wholesoy Cookbook. I made a light cocoa/vanilla icing and decorated the top with toasted coconut. We had a guest coming over, and these popped out at me because the recipe called for silken tofu, which I had, but even toying with it, I wasn't happy with the end result. Tofu didn't belong in these guys, but the hazelnut meal was nice. The best biscotti I've made has always used Ener-g, and I'm not a big user of that in the first place. I posted my favorite biscotti recipe here.

Well that's it for now as blogger beta isn't showing more than a few photos, even though they seem to upload - there is more in store: including vegan alfredo and VWAV breakfast grub. I haven't had time to visit many other blogs, so what's new with you? I've dyed my hair and been reading while trying to think of ideas for all the fresh herbs my boss gifted me. Any tips on the blogger beta are also appreciated.

Good to hear the move went smoothly and that you are almost completely unpacked. I have not been able to upload pics for almost two weeks to blogger.

Your photos look great- but the biscotti- omg- it looks unbelievable! They look like they should be in a gourmet bakery... Enjoy the new apartment.

I'm so happy to see you back. YAY. All this food looks great as always. I can't wait to see your photos of the kitchen. I had a hard time getting used to an electric stove, but it's nice not having a gas bill. Why don't you take a photo of your new hair and use it as your blogger photo? THat biscotti looks amazing by the way. I look forward to being nosey and checking out your new kitchen, hee hee.

Hi there! Glad your move has gone well. Died your hair, eh? I need to do that, too, I've been spotting gray! But I think it's because of stripping my hair the last time! lol

Blueberries....yum.

Swing by when you can.

You guys are so kind and welcoming! I felt really nervous leaving blogger for nearly a month - I'm glad I have not been forgotten ; )
I have been meaning to put up a new user pic soon, but my color is fading so maybe I'll redye it first. Actually, first I should unpack the battery charger from wherever it is!
Kitchen pictures are more than promised.
I look forward to figuring out this new fangled blogger, and less lettuce in my csa share.

Oh, I was hoping you'd share kitchen photos. Looking forward to them. Glad you're okay and your move was successful! No, I wouldn't think you'd be able to find an area better than Belmont (wouldn't mind living there myself!). What part are you in now?

All your pictures are so pretty! I just wanted to say that I love your blog, I came across it (along with a few other vegan blogs) while searching for vegan recipes, and yours inspired me to make my own :)

Also good to hear your move went well.

Elizabeth - Hello! I'm now in SE Division/SE Clinton area - I really adore the Clinton corner area especially, as it reminds me of Davis Square in Somerville - and People's Coop, and New Seasons, of course. I needed a changed, but loved my time on Belmont - Paradox, It's a beautiful pizza, Laughing Planet, Salvador Molly's.. (I lived at 30th + Belmont).

Orangie - your name is so cute! I will certainly check out your blog, welcome aboard!

Julie - Thank you!! I'm not a big sandwich fan, so when I do go that route, it's all out : )
