and so she returns..

Turn back now if you're here for photos from my recent New York vacation, for most of them are on my sister's computer, in NY. I give it a couple weeks till I have that up. I certainly had a wonderful time, and miss my family and friends ridiculously. There was much Indian food, local Italian, Red Bamboo, S'nice, Thai and bagels, bagels, bagels!

For now, I bring you Friday night's dinner: vegan macaroni and cheez, tofu cutlets with sliced avocado, Aardvark hot sauce, baby spinach and cherry tomatoes - and french fries with organic ketchup.
I lie, this is from NY - Alyse and I had a vegan cookout at her house, 5 dollar grill from Pathmark style. Grilled tofu, Morningstar steak strips, zucchini, yellow squash, cherry tomatoes, cremini mushrooms and eggplant - marinaded and basted in a Balsamic viniagarette.
Alyse made an incredible pineapple mustard salad dressing from scratch andI should beg her about specifics. The salad was baby spinach, walnuts, cranberries and sliced apple.cookie testing for the new ppk book. shhhh!
served perfectly with vanilla so delicious and Ah!laska syrup.
What have you been up to? I was jetlagged right after the flight for a couple days, and I've been back at work and sick, gross. My sister turns 20 this week, any our first CSA share pick up is Wednesday, and we've been promised strawberries!

Welcome back!! I missed your posts... a lot of people took last week off posting. I was hardly motivated to post at all since a lot of people were not. Sounds like you had a great time and enjoyed great food.

Yes! I am so happy you're back, and with food! I have some scewers ready to go for the grill but don't care for grilled foods too much. Ray loves it and begs me everyday. This all looks wonderful, Jess. I can't wait to see what you come up with now that you're back. Sorry you're sick. There's a lot of nasty people on planes and especially since there's lack of air flow.

Glad you are back. I've been checking lots of blogs, but haven't had much time for commenting.

I've seen that breakfast biscuit photo so many times in the past week or so, that I'm thinking it might be time to try that this weekend.

Those new photos look great and inspire me to cook something good when I get back.

I'm in White Plains, NY tonight and tomorrow for work. Glad they have Whole Foods nearby.

Hope you are feeling better!

Welcome back! I have to stop looking at food blogs late in the afternoon, I'm starving! Must try that mac & "cheese", I've yet to find a recipe that satisfies my creamy cheesy noodles cravings.

Hey Jess - I had your mac and cheez recipe sitting out yesterday to put in the rotation! Now I'm even more determined - it sounds so good. I'm glad you had a good time - a little time away is always a good thing.

I'm late commenting because I've been crazy busy, but glad you're back! Everything looks wonderful. I bought some skewers on sale at the end of last summer and can't wait to throw them on the BBQ. A new PPK cookbook you say? Sweeeeet!

Thank you guys for the warm welcome back! I'm quite better from my cold and even back to riding my bike to work.
MC - I have been to Candle Cafe (and adore the cookbook) but didn't go this time, wasn't in my budget ; )
I recommend a NYC trip for everyone.
