pizza & flowers

I picked up a dough ball from It's a Beautiful Pizza, and this is half of it in pizza form. One side has tomato sauce, follow your heart mozzerella, sliced cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced red potato and crumbled tempeh bacon - obviously my attempt at the VWAV tempeh potato pizza. The original recipe calls for fennel as well, russet potatos and tempeh crumbles.
The other half of my pizza has tomato sauce, more cheez, broccoli, red peppers and chopped creminis.
Below is my big pot of sauce..it's good but it's herbier than I'd like, I prefer a sweeter sauce.
Lovely flowers brought by Ellen, and the not so wonderful view from our kitchen window. In other news, my cold apparently decided it wanted to move so I woke up with pink eye yesterday. This morning, I really think I have it in both.

Bummer about the pink eye. I used to get pink eye all the time when I was younger (I guess I was just prone to it). Your food looks yummy though!

That vase is awesome. I like your view too. Sorry 'bout the pink eye, yuck. I hope you can remedy that quickly and enjoy that pizza.

Thanks you guys, at least I'm feeling better. The main reason I'm sad about the pink eye this weekend is because I was supposed to make petit fours with a friend, rolling fondant and all.

Leslie, the view ain't much but the vase is special to me, I bought it in a Romanian village a couple years ago~

I like the view! So sorry about the pink eye...

The pizzas look so good. I'm totally not in the mood to cook today - just ready for a nap

I love broccoli on pizza! I first tried it in New York when I was in high school. I felt very cosmopolitan. :)

Thanks to your inspiration, coupled with explaining to a friend tonight how easy it is to make homemade pizza, I made some for myself for dinner! I made my own crust, and tried to mimic the sauce that Amy's brand uses. I then topped it with canned, diced tomatoes (that I drained,) a thinly sliced green pepper, and a can of drained artichoke heart quarters. It's still in the oven . . . but it smells pretty darn good!

Pinkeye sucks. Are you good at putting drops in, or do you need help? I'm not very good with drops . . . !

Sorry to hear that you have pink eye -- that's terrible! But a dough ball from It's a beautiful pizza must have helped the pain somewhat, right? I just love love that place.

Feel better!

Sorry about your pink eye, Jess. Hope it goes far, far away and doesn't come back. I have had it myself and it's not fun.

Beautiful vase, by the way.

I'm a sucker for vegan pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yours looks sooooooo good!

Hope you're back to 100 percent soon.

potatoes on pizza? Never would have though to try that. How do they turn out? Do they get crispy? Do you have to cook them first or do they go on the pizza raw?

Thanks folks! I actually feel worse today compared to this weekend, though my eyes are only light pink today. I'm at work, which bums me out being here but really being sick - my head is all loopy again, oh well. I will be laying on the couch post work (and post laundromaut).

Catherine - I used to love broccoli on while pizza, also a class act : )

Michelle- I love the place, and though I never have, I really want to drink pizza and eat beer there on a regular basis, it's that inviting. I think I like their dough better than their pizza. They used cheddar soy cheese on a pizza once and didn't tell us, and it was birthday, so it was dissapointing, but whatever.

Grace- the potatoes are so good on this, especially with the tempeh as well. I based this off of a Vegan with a Vengeneance recipe, I think potatoes on pizza is a Northern Italian thing, I know it's big in a region in Italy..
I very thinly sliced them, and did not cook them before hand. I baked the pie 20 minutes or so.

Awesome looking pizza! I love that you put potatoes on it. Bummer on the pink eye -- I got it once trying on sunglasses & it itches like crazy. Hang in there.

Pizza looks great. I had pink eye as a kid once and I remember it hurts. Great vase too and the flowers are springy... good for holiday.

I hope you feel better and enjoy your pizza. I'd like to finf vegan cheese and bacon in my supermarket, but we have to order them from USA in France, so I manage without...
I'm working with an english version of my blog, and hope you'll like it.
See you
