BBQ tofu plate

Tofu marinated for three days in Annie's Hot Chipotle BBQ sauce and pan fried. I added more bbq sauce towards the end of cooking. Served with a side of baby spinach, short grain brown rice and tator tots. I also grilled fresh red bell pepper on the foreman but forgot to eat it! Ridiculous because I always have bell peppers with bbq tofu. I knew something was missing from my plate but it slipped my mind. The peppers are now in my leftover box for lunch.
I wasn't impressed with the BBQ sauce, it was good, but there was no bite or burst of flava. My plate required a touch of Bragg's and Frank's Red Hot. I prefer Consorzio Organic Spicy BBQ sauce - and I vow to make the VWAV bbq sauce once I trek to an international grocery store to find pomegranate molasses.

Dori - Thanks for the heads up! You are so darn helpful~ I'm going to check an international market I have hope in first, but I'll keep this in mind as a back up.

Emily - Thanks! It wasn't bad, it was just o-kay, and I wasn't thrilled about it for leftovers, but oh well. Enjoy your dish - I need to check out that recipe.

Too bad you didn't like it--it looks yummy--I love making bbq sauce, It's a great thing to make ahead in large batches because it keeps a long time.

My tofu often lacks as well... I've also never found a BBQ sauce that I really like (well, not since I started to care about my health -- I used to be a "Bullseye" BBQ sauce fan)

I usually try to make asian style tofu, but it always ends up tasting the same. Basically like tofu and soy sauce, regardless of what I try to make it like!

The dish *does* look wonderful though, sorry the flavor didn't match the visual.

There's a recipe for a fab BBQ sauce in "The Garden of Vegan" by Sarah Kramer and Tanya Barnard. But marinated for three days?!

MMmmm! I love bbq tofu. I don't marinate though, I pan fry the tofu until browned, then add the bbq sauce and cook until carmelized. I'll have to try grilled red peppers with it, sounds good.

I've done Red Bell Peppers in my G. F. Grill too! Might have to do it again! Thanks for the reminder!
