Chocolate Coffee Nut Biscotti

I noticed a post in livejournal's vegancooking commuity today referencing a biscotti recipe I had posted, so I thought I'd share it here..

This was one of my first times coating them in chocolate, and I have refined my skills ; )

Of course, dunk them in coffee and enjoy~

Oh! Heaven!

How long should I marinate the tofu in the key lime suggestion you just commented on?

Harmonia, I'll comment my idea here, your blog thought I was spam- probably the long link?

I've never tried this, but I use fresh lemon juice in marinades all the time. I would do something like this: http://www.lowcarbluxury.com/recipes/recipe-chicken20.html and add a teeny splash of hot sauce, because I don't think I'd like alllll lime flavor : ) I would basically use lime juice (1-2 limes?), 1-2 teaspoons sweetener like agave or brown sugar, teeny bit hot sauce and desired herbs (I'm bad with herbs unless directed so I'd use what the recipe suggests, just a lot less) and marinate tofu or tempeh [probably would work better] overnight. 1 teaspoon of soy sauce or braggs never hurts too. I'd pan fry it or grill it. For tofu, I can't stand it de-frozen and all chewy but that would probably be good!

That biscotti looks heavenly! I'm not a coffe drinker, but I do dunk dark chocolate in my teas - that biscotti would be a delightful afternoon treat with tea! :)

oh my! i'm not a coffee drinker, but those look heavenly! i think they would be just as tasty sans coffee. :)

question for you:
how do you get your tofu to brown and look so good? i buy extra firm but it still generally falls apart and it seems like i'd have to cook it for ages for it to brown and look as good as yours. thx!

Amy- I patiently do it on medium heat, and 9/10 I have also marinaded my tofu first, for at least 10 minutes - overnight, on average. I use a generous but not drowning amount of oil and usually don't touch them unless swirling oil around the pan or to flip them over with a big spatula. I hope this helps! I also tend to use very firm bulk tofu, or just barely 'firm' tofu - which I coat in corn starch before frying.

thanks for the tofu tips. i will have to work on my patience and not touch the things til they are ready for flipping. :)
