Make-shift Saturday breakfast and yesterday's smoothie

Star-shaped biscuits with Road's End Organics Golden Gravy and a side of sliced mango (tis still the week of the mango!) More biscuit love.
Before baking!
Banana-peanut butter-rice milk smoothie (+ one dash of Ahlaska chocolate syrup)

The biscuit recipe was originally taken from the vegancooking community on livejournal, and I usually half it:

2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup canola
2/3c nondairy milk
dash of nutritional yeast/herbs

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Put oil & rice milk together in a measuring cup, but don't mix them together. Pour all at once into flour mixture. Stir until mixture forms into a ball. Turn dough out onto floured surface and knead until smooth & springy. Roll out the dough until it's 1/2" thick, and use a biscuit cutter or cookie cutter of choice to cut. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet, bake @450 for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy!

I'll have to make a PB-banana smoothie soon. I have been on a PB-banana sandwich kick for breakfasts, and creating a smoothie would be a nice change! Thanks for the idea!

Biscuits and gravy...why have I never tried this before? Looks so good, I'm using gravy the next time I have biscuits.

I was SO going to make biscuits this morning!
I ate black rice and coconut instead.

That smoothie looks amazing! I always thought peanut butter would be gross in smoothies, but whenever I see a PB smoothie I sort of change my mind. I might try that tomorrow.

I've seen biscuits and gravy mentioned on other blogs, but it's not something I've ever had or even really heard of until recently. Is that odd?
Grace, I see you're in NS. I grew up in NB. We usually had biscuits with just margarien or molasses. Is that strange?

Carrie: I don't think molasses on biscuits is strange, in fact, I now have a craving!

celine- I hope you get to try these another time!

Catherine - Enjoy, I had my first peanut butter - vanilla tofutti smoothie last year and my world is changed.

Grace- I never liked gravy growing up but last year I gave it a try, and now I have to say I look forward to the random times we have it. I haven't made my own yet though.

Webly - I was just thinking about black and purple rice.

vegancore- do it! It's possibly my favorite thing to put in a smoothie, I forgot to this time but a pinch of cinnamon with this is also really great.

Carrie-I don't think my mom ever made biscuits and gravy growing up and I've probably eaten them more as a vegan in the past few years than before going vegan. I can see molasses with biscuits, that wonderful goop! Sometimes I put earth balance margarine on bicuits too, now that's perfect.

Harmonia - no oven! Your poor thing..I lived for a few months with one working burner and a microwave, I feel your pain (and that's not dorm living, that was just crappy apartment living post college). Roaches too, but that's another horrible thing. We ate so much pasta and cous cous during the no oven-one burner days.
