Midweek Munchies..

Midweek munchies time ~

Midweek Munchies: What Jess is contributing for the week..is from the pantry.

Canned and dry goods miscellaneous cabinet.
Fun vegan whipping creme and chocolate-hazelnut spread! (great stuff, very Nutella)
I have't used the Soyatoo yet, I can never make up my mind of what to have it with..I have two boxes and should really decide before 2007 when they expire. Suggestions? I'm leaning towards a creme pie.

Possibly temporalily, I'm using last week's code, as I can't seem to find the new one in working condition- so hopefully I'll update this later.

My boyfriend's parents were in town this past late weekend/early week, so there has been no need for groceries. Honestly, there's no need to buy anything till this weekend except for more World's Best cat litter (since Huxley refuses anything but the pricey pricey stuff).

I haven't cooked since Saturday night, so I definitely want to tommorow night. I even made it through a meal at The Cheesecake Factory (by the way, all pasta contains eggs,so do the burger buns and brioche) this week - and we live in Portland, OR, coincidentally just voted #1 on Peta's vegfriendly US big city list. When we moved here in Fall '04 it was #4.

I'll probably wind up ranting out Portland's veg dining another time - and to note, NYC will always hold the best veg dining for me. And by the way, the Cheesecake Factory was actually in Tigard, OR, and the faux in laws deserved a comfy chain meal, for their sake. ; ) They left this morning, but we treated ourselves to Salvador Molly's for dinner and a happy hour drink tonight. Pina Coladas made with dark rum..a new introduction (made by the vegan waitress) to our lives, yum.

This is Zelda : )

Thanks for letting us peek into your kitchen/pantry.
Huxley is so cute! (and spoiled, too, ha?)

You're kitty is so cute!

Ok, you are killin' me once again, what's up with this vegan whip cream? Did you see my post where I was desperate for a recipe? I hope whatever you make is delicious.

Faux In-Laws... funny, I have some too.

I'd like to go to Portland, maybe over the summer, do you have an absolute favorite restaurant?

Also, what's with the Earth Balance not being fridged? Do you keep other stuff in there (and did you mention that and I'm just blind?)? I'm curious.

So this year Portland made #1 veg friendly, #1 walking, and #1 bicycling.

I think we live in heaven.

Kaivegan- Sorry, that's Zelda, not Huxley : ) She's actually the princess, Huxley is a former stray who we had a very very very hard time litter box training..until we happened to buy the pricey stuff. aye yi : ) And by the way, congrats on the tasty looking cabbage rolls!

Leslie- Zelda appreciates the compliment, I'm sure ; )

I ordered the whipping creme from rootsofcompassion.org I haven't used it yet, but I've read that coconut creme whipped creme is the most 'realistic'.

Sadly I don't have an absolute favorite restaurant, but I love Vege Thai, Vita Cafe and the India Chaat House cart, to name a few.

The Earth balance is in the fridge, these are containing exciting items such as fructose that my boyfriend bought accidentally, raisins and extra falafel mix.

frykitty- I definitely appreciate this city's ways : )

What was your bf trying to buy instead of fructose? Weird, but maybe white sugar (ugh)?!

Thanks for the restaurant list as well as answering my nosey questions about the Earth Balance (although I didn't think you would actually keep it in the pantry).

Leslie- I asked him to buy sugar and they were out of organic sugar crystals (we usually use organic raw sugar or organic evaporated cane juice) and he panicked and bought fructose and I've still yet to use it.

I see Muir Glen fire-roasted tomatoes again. Are you as addicted to them as I am? I always use them in my chili. Awesome! You've got some good stuff in your cupboard. Now, I can't wait to see what you're going to cook up next. I'll await your food photos.

vegan nutella? whoa. I think the regular nutella has partially hydrogenated oils in it anyway. rock on.

You have inspired me to reorganize my cabinets TONIGHT!

Carrie- Thank you! And I do adore Muir Glen tomatoes. I spent a summer a couple years ago when I first discovered them eating the fire roasted ones with pasta for about every other meal, but I've settled down since then.

Ms. Mercedes - I have dreams of vegan crepes in my kitchen.

Harmonia - this is the organized side of my kitchen..across the way is a mess of baked goods supples and jarred grains ; )
