My juice is green.

Apple-Mango-Field Greens-Garlic-Ginger Juice

My friend Shaun of In a Pickle and a Jam gifted me with her old juicer when she moved from Portland last year.  You know, she's a vegan who left Portland.  It happens more often than you think. It's not all magical nutritional yeast covered streets and freshly made vegan donuts handmade by dear Katie Jane at Sweetpea on Saturdays.

Back to the point, my friend Tiffany of the new blog she's begging me to plug even though she
only has one entry up so far, A Series of Open Letters to Entirely Random People, constantly tells me from thousands of miles away that she wants juice.  I don't ship her juice, but it does inspire me to use said juicer.  And truthfully, she's told me at least two humorous ideas she has in store for other letters, and I helped her navigate wordpress and I'll be disappointed if she doesn't keep blogging, so now she better.  I'll make her juice when she visits.

Personally, I find myself juicing when I have a surplus of produce, like after picking up $1 bags at Limbo or with odds and ends - a random apple, beet and two I'm-worried-about-them-going-really-limp stalks of celery and then I'm thinking juice.

$1 Bag of apples and mangoes

Reason #4,599 that I dig vegan Portland - A special peanut butter cream filled donut with chocolate glaze at Sweetpea, and a mug of Stumptown Coffee.

That juice looks so fresh and vibrant - and that donut is giving me a 'come-hither' kind of look...

you had my until i read garlic. that sounds gross, jess. doesn't it overwhelm all the other flavors?
what's sad is that i've never seen those cheap produce bags when i go to Limbo. what's up with that, eh?
so glad to run into you at Sweetpea today for delicious donuts!

Oh, that looks wonderful. I'll be popping by Portland in a few days - any restaurants you recommend?

Thanks!

mmm. the juice looks very good indeed. I don't have a juicer, but it seems like a lot of fun. However, since you can't ship juice, you should probably just send me some of those peanut butter cream filled donuts! What!? That's crazy cool. Seriously, I haven't had a donut in forever. mmmm.

yay, i'm glad you're using the juicer! someone at work was just trying to convince me to do a detox, but without fresh juices it's kind of impossible.

that juice looks so good, i am going to get a green smoothie as soon as possible.

how the heck do you juice mango - were they not super ripe so they didn't just mush up?

Lucky me, I got a juicer for $5 at Goodwill. My favorite is celery/apple juice. I just think celery gives it a salty savory flavor. I should really juice more often...

See, you try to make Portland seem all hum-drum with the whole "it's not all nooch covered streets" line, and then you show us that drool-worthy donut. You're dragging us on an emotional roller coaster! :-)

that juice sounds interesting...but garlic? tell us how that works. and oh, i can't tell you how many times a week i wish we lived in portland. ain't ever gonna happen though unless my spouse and i were given really good jobs that footed our child's college tuition. for now, i'll just covet that doughnut.
((((coveting))))

The Diesel cup caught my eye! I spend so much time in there in Davis Square. Funny seeing a picture of it on the opposite coast!
