Snickles and Rolls

Citygirl Snickerdoodles

With my free time this past holiday weekend, I got a chance to jump back into recipe testing for Terry and Isa's Cookie Book.  It's due out next year!

These are Citygirl Snickerdoodles, a vegan take on the classic.  Don't let the sprinkles fool you, I'm still humbug.

I also made a batch of Poppyseed Pull-Apart Rolls, a tester for Isa's upcoming Vegan Brunch book.  I believe that book is coming late Spring 2009 and is already  up on Amazon for Pre-Order.

To Seattle!
Tomorrow I'm off to Seattle for a few days on business and pleasure with a dear friend.  I'm sure there will be documentation of my obligatory vegan chinese food induglences when I return.
On my last visit I hit up Vegetarian Bistro and Bamboo Garden, and this time I'm thinking a long-awaited return to Teapot is due, or perhaps a first time visit to In the Bowl or Vegan Garden.
Let me know if you have suggestions for dishes at any of those three places - Thanks!

snickerdoodles are one of the most amazing cookies in the world. what is fabulous is that they're basically only well known in america, so the only times i've ever had them is when i myself have made them or when i was in primary school and an american girl would bring them in. They are always a hit with my friends when I make them here and they're good for shipping off in tiny little care packages to far away lovers. I wish I could be a tester for a cookbook, I'd feel so priveliged, but at hte same time, i hardly ever get the time to sit down and prepare something from a recipe exactly so i dunno if i'd be the most consistent tester.

In any case, I titled my last post 'got sconed'. heehe

The tester recipes look wonderful... It must be nice to have an excuse to cook up Isa and Terry recipes so often. You must be in constant food heaven! The rolls and snickles look quite gorgeous, also, and incredibly edible. Mmm.

Definitely go to Vegan Garden! The Pork Skewers are amazing!! Seriously I will go and just get that and the shredded tofu rolls and that is what we eat for dinner....mmmm....it is bad that I live so close....

Also I know every LOVES Teapot...but I thought it was incredibly awful. It literally made me sick to my stomach it was so bad. The flavors were really off and....yeah. I do not really know why everyone loves it....maybe it is just me :)

Also if you have transportation you should check out Squid & Ink. I think it is amazing. That and Vegan Garden are my favorite non-fancy vegan places in Seattle. The Monte Cristo at Squid and Ink is amazing. And the sweet potato fries.

I hope you have fun in Seattle! And all of your foods are delicious!!

Wow! Snickerdoodles must be the new meme, because I was daydreaming about them last night after dinner and then both you and VeganYumYum have posts about them on your respective blogs...

Crazy! (and delicious!)

Lena - That was a cute scone post!

Jen - I have been hearing that sentiment a lot about Teapot - I will likely go, but I'm nervous!
Thanks for the tips!

I really want to check out Squid & Ink but we'll be short on time and without a car, so alas...

Mighty-O donuts will be had!

Pull-a-part rolls are the best! And with all that poppy seed, you might even fail a drug test. :-) Of course, it would be worth it.

Have fun in Seattle! If you go to Teapot, I would highly recommend the Gula Malacca for dessert. It's a marvelous mixture of warm coconut tapioca, cold mocha ice cream and chocolate sauce, topped with soy whip and peanuts. It is an unbelievably delicious combo. Mmm, wish I could have one right now! At Vegan Garden, I am partial to the house special vermicelli bowl, and their pho is always amazing. So many good eats in this town--hope you enjoy your stay here!

Have fun in Seattle! You should stop by the happy hour at Georgetown Liquor Co. Yummy cheap drinks and free vegan food at happy hour (and free Atari).

Sweet and sour chicken balls at Bamboo Garden with the daily soup (lunch combos are the best)!! And please go to Mighty-O's (as Melisser's suggested)- so good! Also Hillside Quickies is wonderful and they are great people (http://www.hillsidequickie.com/locations/)
Have fun!
