PPK Cookie testing and Nhut Quang

Chocolate Fudgey Oatmeal Cookies.
From the in-progress PPK Cookie book, which was estimated to be due in Fall 2009 the last time I checked. Correct me if I'm wrong, Terry & Isa...

Made these last night...
I sampled one this morning and they are totally chewy and fudgey, indeed.

Cowboy Cookies. Also a cookie book test recipe.

Moving on, food porn of note from an excellent dinner at Nhut Quang out on NE 82nd a few weeks ago with my friends Michelle & Aaron. I say "out" on NE 82nd since I had to take two buses from SE to get there, but overall I made it there within 30 minutes, and that was well worth it for the delicious food & company. It's very nondescript in a comfortable way, and charmingly family run.

Vietnamese Crepes

The menu is eerily similar to that of Van Hanh Vegetarian on SE Division, which although closer to my apartment (and one of 4 vegetarian restaurants on dear SE Division, holla) far exceeds any meal I've had at Van Hanh.

Lemongrass Tofu Sticks

Michelle always talks me into sampling steamed buns and I am grateful!

Thai Iced Tea - the one menu item that paled into comparison with Van Hanh's.
This one tasted a little too soy-y.

Buddha Bowl with Roasted Gluten
This was my entree and I still crave that gluten, weeks later!

The cookies look fantastic! You have inspired me to forget about going into work a day early from my holidays and bake up a batch of something chocolatey! Thanks!

Wow, that Buddha bowl looks amazing. The roasted gluten looks... dare I say it... meaty (which in this case is a compliment!). I gotta go to Portland...
And those cookies look yummy - that cookbook is going to be another winner!

I am totally obsessed with everything Vietnamese, but it almost always has fish sauce in it, so way to go creating something that vegans can enjoy!

Those fudgey cookies look so awesome! As do those crepes! It's so cool that a Vietnamese restaurant would have vegan crepes...

you should plan another trip to Nut Qhang and ask me to drive you. and then tell me that you want to stop at Fubonn too.

oh, and before you do that, drop some of those damn cookies at my house...(mainly just the fudge ones)

Did you eat that cilantro? ;) I'm free for lunch anytime, if you're still interested. As usual, no rush.

Yum! I need to eat out more. Vegan thai iced tea? Do you have a favorite place for that? I've never seen it offered.
