I actually have a bunch of photos to post but don't know where to start. So, I'll just open with all these struffoli - aka Italian 'honey' balls. I veganized the recipe this weekend and used raw agave nectar, as seen above. Recipe for these little agave donut-y bites coming sooooooooon!

omg, i honestly don't know anyone else in the world that has ever known about Struffoli outside my own Italian family! what a treat to see these here!
My mom always referred to them as Struffala, but I'm sure everyone has their own pronounciation.
However ya say it, they are insanely good and now I know just what to surprise my family with when I visit for an upcoming wedding! I'll just veganize our family recipe! It's been years since i've had these little balls of yum.
thanks for the most excellent idea!!!
Glad I could bring back the fond memories for you! I had only known them as honeyballs, my Italian grandma used to make them for christmas and easter. I only learned they where also known as struffoli while searching for a recipe online~
I've never heard of this. It looks like donut holes. Soft? Crunchy? Fried? Baked? I guess I'll have to wait for the recipe.
Oh wow, those look delicious. Can't wait for the recipe!
Thank you, thank you for posting that recipe. Those look like the kind of treats I'd get back in NYC during street fairs in Little Italy- it would be a kick to make some myself! Time to place a bulk order of agave nectar...
Wow! Those look amazing and totally remind me of the ones my mom makes. Now that she has grandkids she calls them Timbits (donut holes that are popular thanks to Tim Hortons). I would love to get the veganized version of these yummy treats. Once again, Wow!
yay recipe!! can't wait.
I love that Agave Nectar and I used some this weekend to make some vegan truffles (I'm not vegan myself but they just turned out that way!) for a food blogging event. Your Struffoli look delicious!
Great blog!
Jess, those look awesome! Seriously, I've been thinking about the lack of vegan donuts around here.
It makes me want to plan a trip somewhere...or just make my own.
Please post your recipe soon, I beg of you.
BTW - The New Farm recipe looks mighty good. I recently picked up that cookbook and I'm looking forward to trying more recipes from it.
Yum...
Hey Jess,
I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada and am visiting Portland for the first time over Easter weekend. I'm vegan & already have so many places that I want to visit but was wondering if you could give me some "must sees/ eats"? That would be awesome! Thanks.
Sarah
Those look scrumptious. Looking forward to the recipe :)

recipe coming soon! I honestly do have it typed up, but want to do one more test round with something I was thinking about and completely forgot to add to one of my test batches.
Sarah - I will follow up on this! Maybe even in a post, or else I'll follow up here, how's that? Maybe email me to remind me? jdfunks@yahoo.com
Hey! I saw this on a vegan photo pool on flick'r, but didn't realize it was you! Funny :)
Anyway, they look great!
