Chocolate Smlove pie, a PPK recipe for next winter's book.
chocolate, hazelnut, peanut butter caramel, candied pecans and more chocolate.
Apple filled preserve gallettes, another PPK test recipe. The original recipe calls for apricot preserves, but we used blueberry and peach, because we're badass.
Poor little overcooked squirrel shaped gallettes.
Espresso coconut cookie hearts, for a potluck at Joanna's, of Yellow Rose Recipes. That's all the name dropping for now..
The full coconut and coconut espresso cookie batch. Potluckin'
Cinnamon maple candied hazelnuts and almonds, also for the potluck. I made a second batch of maple/agave/lime/cayenne nuts as well~ <3 spicy sweet nuts.
Oh, real food. Broiled Italian lemon seitan, roasted ppk test kitchen portabella, and sauteed spinach and roasted red peppers with garlic and olive oil.
Not a fantastic shot, I'm sad to say, but it still deserves publicity. Gnocchi and broccoli in Joanna's sundried tomato cream sauce, a test recipe for her lowfat vegan cookzine.
I bid thee farewell with a slice of smlove.

All these test recipe pics are such a tease. Looks delicious, and I can't wait for the book to come out :)
You are so lucky to test recipes. I would love that. Yum-O! I can't wait to try these myself. My DH will flip if I show him your pie. He is a die hard chocolate buddie.
So much food porn I'm going to pass out! Wow, you were quite lucky to test those all out. I really want that sun dried tomato cream sauce!

You forgot the ricemellow fluff!
Those nuts looks wonderful!
I'm having a sugar low, but it feels so good. What a tantalizing array of yumminess.
Ugh, I Should NOT be looking at your blog today of all days :P Good thing I've had so much juice today I'm not drooling over the sweets.
Let's see... smlove, like, "some love"? I'm curious as to the origin of the name.
I'd like some smlove, please!
That pie looks absolutely yummy!! I want a piece!!
Oh Dang!
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - you recipe testers are driving me to insanity! It all looks so great! That choclate pie looks crazy-decadent! Oh my.
I've got a question about your beautiful looking spiced nuts. How do you do that? Do you have a recipe or basic instructions that you might share? I think I'd have fun making some of those (and eating them too!). thanks!
Ha, I knew you'd make that pie eventually. Your photos are fab!
Hello! You are so lucky to test these mind-blowing recipes- I hope to get in on the action next time around! That pie looks magnifico. The galettes-especially the poor little squirrel ones! Oops- I just squeed so loud my cat ran out of the room!
Okay, so everyone is going to beat me up for being a tester..sorry guys! I feel super lucky, and felt super left out during the cupcake testing, or at least sorta left out, but I'm glad I didn't pig out on cupcakes for a year, really..
The pie was actually a little much for me, I LOVED the topping, but I'm not a huge all-chocolate fan..yikes
Springsandwell and those interestd - the recipe is actually up on the ppk forums, at least for now..which includes the nut making you asked about: http://www.postpunkkitchen.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=19658
Oh holy crap - that pie...I'm lost for words. I also enjoy spiced nuts. You should try agave nectar/chili powder/sea salt/Brazil nuts.
The chocolate smlove pie looks devine! The gallettes look really good too. I can't wait for the book to come out!
oh my gosh, everything looks fantastic...I must be craving carbs right now, because that gnocchi is singing my name!
Hoooooly moley, Jess. WOW. What DOESN'T look good here? Thanks for the drool time.
Just makes me laugh to myself when i think of peeps who think veg desserts can't possibly taste good.
I'm SO sure.
I love that yer a tester... who better than someone who loves to make stuff that's good and good for you!?
Lookin' good, Jess. REALLY good.
You can tell someone likes sugar :)
Oh my gosh. Just looking at that pie... and the espresso cookies...
I wish I was your neighbour! I have such a weakness for pretty sugary things.
Ooh, you are so bad for making all those treats! Everything looks awesome. You and your photos are the best ambassadors for new cookbooks.
Thanks for the link about the nuts. I've been wondering what to use in place of egg whites to make the coating stick.
OMG, the pics are incredible! That pie looks sinful. I love that adorable green, white and pink dish!!! I was at Moo Shoes on Saturday to meet Sarah Kramer, and Isa and Terry were there.
I want to eat that italian lemon seitan now!
JENNA
