Mmm breakfast.

december 108
Tempeh bacon, sea salted avocado, cinnamon tossed apples (inspired by a breakfast side at Morning Glory in Philly), & pan fried red and purple potatoes with oregano, garlic and smoked paprika.

december 059
Cornmeal Crusted Tempeh from the Candle Cafe cookbook - this ties with tempeh bacon as the BEST tempeh we've ever had at home. Served with spinach and chili cocoa roasted squash seeds, super sweet corn, PPK testing bbq sauce and roasted red kuri squash.

december 112
PPK testing Diner style homefries - all mushy yet cripsy, cubed tofu curry style scramble with spinach and roasted red peppers and half a garlic breadstick.

december 063
Cajun scramble from Jam on Hawthorne. I picked around the veggie sausage because I don't think it was vegan, but other than that, delish. Served with rye toasted with jam and hash browns. Have I mentioned that my boyfriend loves going out to breakfast? He certainly does, and it just might be my favorite meal out..apparently since I haven't posted breakfast in ages.

december 071
PPK recipe testing Cranberry Nut Bread.

december 077
Sliced.

december 083
Who would have known, that after refusing to eat tomato sauce, pizza, etc. from ages 7-21 that I would now be making it and loving it at home?? I thought it was the grossest.
This is an extra garlicky (of course!) Red Wine Marinara.

december 099
Baked BBQ tofu (extra firm TJ's), side salad with lemon juice, roasted turnips and red kuri squash with sea salt and earth balance, and roasted fingerling potatoes.

Cookie photoshoot later!

Everything looks so yummy, especially the Cornmeal Crusted Tempeh. And the Red Wine Marinara looks so bright and tasty.

Hope you have a happy holiday.

That's it! I'm definitely trying this tempeh. You're so lucky you have all of the different veg places to go for breakfast. There is NOTHING here. NOTHING. Unless you count a soy milk latte at Starbucks, 20 miles away. Merry Christmas Jess!

Hey lady!
I made those coconut cookies, but substituted zylitol/stevia/applesauce for my diabetic sister, and everyone loved them! Thanks for the recipe.

(I even ate some chocolate and it didn't give me a headache this time- score!)

xoxoxoMerry Christmas!

Oh man!!!
All those meals look so full of flavor and spices and colors ... wow! It looks like you've been eating so well!

Breakfast used to be my favorite going-out meal, by FAR... but I find it really hard as a vegan. I guess it sounds like portland's got a lot of nice vegan options... but this isnt the case in Santa Cruz. I just wish someone would make me a plate of vegan french toast, or pancakes or something like that... sigh!!!

Happy holidays!

That crust I made with the pizza stone was great. It was evenly crisp and brown (but not too brown) on the bottom!

Your food looks so good! Wishing you a happy break as well. :)

Wow, I need to go to Jam now, too. I still haven't been to Junior's. It's hard because I work most mornings that Jim has off = no breakfasts out. :(

Everything look exceptional, as always. I need to encrust some tempeh in something...
