Sweet; Grilling

The second Vegan Cookie book tester of the day - 
I made both of these to take to a fancy vegan dinner party last weekend.  
It was Indian themed and fabulous.

Espresso Fudge Brownies


I live in an apartment with no immediate place to grill outside, so I contently do all of my grilling in a  cast iron grill pan on the stove top.  I bought it almost 2 years ago for less than $15 at Ross and it's consistently fun to use.  I have a foreman grill stored somewhere but those lines and flavor do not compare. 
Sadly my handy and environmentally wise oil mister died so I've resorted to packaged olive oil spray again lately, but that's a poor excuse and I'm aiming to get a new one soon.  Briefly marinate some tofu or seitan, toss some veggies in oil/herbs/salt or dressing and bam, you have dinner to grill and eat alone, over pasta, grains or in a sandwich.  

On Sunday, I grilled the following for my lunch at work:

Grilled Golden Balsamic and Braggy Tofu, 
Asparagus with olive oil, coarse sea salt and pepper

Grilled Eggplant slices with olive oil and coarse sea salt.

Sandwiched withVegenaise, flavorless tomato that I picked out &  field greens on a french baguette.  Enough for two meals!

Nature's Path AgavePlus Granola.  

Their newest addition to the cereal game - with sunflower seeds and oats!  I received two boxes from the company and as Evan from Bjorked Off! knows, I rarely buy or eat cereal - but this stuff is great.  Not too sweet at all.  Personally I'll take agave over honey any day, ethics and flavor-wise.  I thought the sunflower seeds would annoy me, 
because they're just annoying, but they didn't~

haha, the espresso brownies seriously look like some sort of intense desert terrain! can you imagined if you lived in an arid brownie climate and the ground was crackly brownie tops?..wow should i stop? :)

also, i really want to try that agave plus granola (and sunflower seeds DONT annoy me--i think they're cute!)

I love Agave Granola! I put it on everything haha. I must prefer agave to honey as well, it just tastes better.

I really miss grilling. I can't in my apt because it sets the fire alarms off no matter what I do.

Only heirloom tomatoes taste like anything to me now. I can't wait until it's their season!

yes jess,i DO know that you rarely buy or eat cereal!though you like to keep year-old-expired unopened cereal/granoatla in yr cupboard and try to push it onto me instead of giving it to the people's food bank.don't deny it.

and the agave granola-should i buy some?i mean,you know how i love sweet.and i see it everywhere-i mean,when i was in portland one day they were sampling it at new seasons,though it was too early and i didn't want any.

also,wtf,when i stayed with you,no baking happened!when can i come live with you again?

wah! i get so overwhelmed by all the cookbooks coming out. i'm so behind the times! i only have a few, and as soon as i get a new one, another one comes out! wah! i i feel like lucy and ethel in the episode where they work in the chocolate factory.

seriously, everything looks great! and i'm super excited about those doughnuts. i'm trying to work on my spouse's pal greg, the owner of sweetwater's ( a MI chain) to get them to veganize their doughnuts.

I so miss my grill in the winter... but hopefully it won't be long until I can chip the frost off it yet!

Sunflower seeds aren't annoying! :-) They're tasty! I can't wait to try that granola.

And your grilled tofu is amazing! I'm getting hungry just looking at it. I've started buying flavorless tomatoes too. I hate to do it, but it's been so long since I've had a real summer tomato! God, it's still months here before the fresh tomatoes come in.

That was my first fresh tomato purchase in months. I see no point in that again until summer. In the meantime, spreads and roasted red peppers!
